I have seen my friend doing this – swipe on mails in Gmail to delete them. But, in my Gmail app, swiping any emails will bring them to archive. Why is mine different from his? How can I have the same behavior as his?

If you wish to swipe on emails to send them to the Trash folder in Gmail, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Gmail app.
2. Tap the Menu button in the upper left corner, and then follow by Settings.
3. Tap General settings.
4. Select Delete for Gmail default action.
5. Check the box next to Swipe actions.
