It’s not uncommon to received mails with zip or rar file as an attachment on your stock email client or Gmail. To open these files, you need either a file manager or zip application.
Personally, I find using file manager rather convenient to unzip and open the files directly on the email client itself on my Galaxy S3.
There are quite a number of file manager apps on the market, and the one I’ve been using is the ES File Explorer (Free). It works well with both zip and rar files.
Once you’ve the app installed, you can simply tap the attachment to open up the zip or rar file.
Now, you can either tap the file to view it with an appropriate app.
Or extract it to any folder.
If for some reason you don’t get any response when tapping the attachment, you can make use of the SAVE button to download the attachment into a folder.
Then launch the ES File Explorer and browse the folder to open the zip file.
If you prefer to use a zip app such as AndroZip, it works more or less the same way.
Yes, it’s that easy.
