Instead of going into the Clock app, and tapping the Timer tab to set and start a timer every time, is there a timer widget on the Nexus phone (running Android Lollipop) that lets me start and stop a timer quickly on my Home screen?
From what I can see from my Nexus 5 running Lollipop, there isn’t such a widget. But, here are the 2 workarounds that can help you to start & stop a timer without accessing the Clock app every time.
i. Using the voice command
Well, the easiest way to set and start a timer on your Home screen is by using your voice. Start by saying “OK, google” to tell Google app that you’re ready to start using your voice. Next, you can say “set a 3 minutes timer” to start a 3-minute (used as an example for this tutorial) timer.
ii. Using a 3rd party timer app that supports widget
There are quite a few timer/stopwatch apps that support widget out there. The 2 that I’ve tried and worked on my Nexus 5 are the following. Give both of them a try to find out which is perfect for you.
