How to transfer music and video files to Sony Xperia Z1 ?

If you’re new to Android phone and need some guidance on transferring music and video files to your Sony Xperia Z1, here are the 3 different methods that let you do so.

i. Transfer music and video files from PC

  1. Connect your Xperia Z1 to your PC using the USB data cable.
  2. Open up your PC Windows Explorer, and you should see your Xperia Z1 shows up as a removable disk.
  3. Next, access the phone storage using Windows Explorer. In the internal phone storage, you should see the Video and Music folders.

  4. Drag-and-drop/copy-and-paste your music or video files from your computer to the respective folders. On your Xperia Z1, the WALKMAN (music) and Movies (video) players will recognize the files automatically.
  5. Alternatively, you can create a new folder in your phone storage or external memory card to store these files. The Xperia Z1 will scan the storage and list them accordingly on the music and video players automatically.

ii. Transfer music and video files using Windows Media Player

  1. Connect your Xperia Z1 to your PC using the USB data cable.
  2. Run Windows Media Player on your PC.
  3. In the left pane of the Windows Media Player, you will see a little icon which represents the phone internal storage.
  4. Next, move to the right pane and click the Sync tab.

  5. Drag the music files, videos or a playlist to the Sync list area. Note: You can drag these files from either the PC folders or Windows Media Player library.
  6. Once you have all the files in the Sync list, click Start sync.

  7. Now, move back to the left pane, and click Sync status to verify if those files are successfully copied over to your phone.

iii. Transfer music and video files using Media Go

Similar to iTunes, Media Go can organize, play, and transfer a wide variety of content including videos, photos, music, and podcasts.

  1. Download and install Media Go, and then launch the software on your PC.
  2. Connect your Xperia Z1 to your PC using the USB data cable.
  3. Next, click the Music option that’s located below Sony Xperia Z1. And the songs in your phone will be listed in the right (Music) pane.
  4. Now, drag and drop the music files from your PC to the Music pane to add them to your phone directly.

  5. Alternatively, you can go to File > Add/Remove Media from Library. Click + add Folder, and select the folder than contains all your music files on your PC. By doing so, you have added the music files to the local library.

  6. To transfer them to your Xperia Z1, simply drag the music files from the local library (bottom) to Sony Xperia Z1 (top) or right click on a song, select Add to and follow by Sony Xperia Z1.

Note: The steps here were written for Android 4.2.2 on a Sony Xperia Z1 (C6903). If you’re having a different model of Xperia Z1 or other version of Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.
