How to configure Wi-Fi Connection on Samsung Galaxy S4 ?

The very first thing you need to do on your Samsung Galaxy S4 is to get it connected to the home Wi-Fi.

It’s crucial to have a fast Internet connection before doing other tasks such as contact and app downloads.

Well, the good news is that configuring the Galaxy S4 to connect to Wi-Fi isn’t rocket science. Pick one of the methods below and you’ll get it up and running in no time.

i. To connect your Galaxy S4 to a visible Wi-Fi network ID.

  1. On your Galaxy S4, tap the Menu button (next to Home button), and then select Settings.

  2. On the Connection tab, tap the Wi-Fi option.
  3. Tap the Network-ID of your home WiFi.
  4. Enter the password and then tap Connect.

  5. If the password is correct, the Network-ID will show the Connected status.

ii. To connect your Galaxy S4 to a hidden Wi-Fi network ID.

  1. On your Galaxy S4, tap the Menu button (next to Home button), and then select Settings.
  2. On the Connection tab, tap the Wi-Fi option.
  3. Next, scroll to the bottom and tap Add Wi-Fi network.
  4. On the Add Wi-Fi network prompt, enter the Network ID, select the encryption method, enter the password and then tap Connect.

iii. To connect Galaxy S4 to Wi-Fi router with WPS Button.

Note: To use this method, your home Wi-Fi router must support WPS Button.

  1. Enable the WPS feature on your home router.(Kindly refer to your router’s user manual for this step)
  2. On your Galaxy S4, tap the Menu button (next to Home button), and then select Settings.
  3. On the Connection tab, tap the Wi-Fi option.
  4. Tap the Menu button (next to Home button), and then select WPS push button.

  5. Now, press the physical WPS button on your router. The example shown below is the D-Link router.

  6. Next, you should see the Connected to Wi-Fi network prompt.

iv. To connect Galaxy S4 to home router with WPS PIN entry.

Note: To use this method, your home Wi-Fi router must support WPS PIN entry.

  1. Enable the WPS feature and find out the WPS PIN on your home router. (Kindly refer to your router’s user manual for this step)
  2. On your Galaxy S4, tap the Menu button (next to Home button), and then select Settings.
  3. On the Connection tab, tap the Wi-Fi option.
  4. Tap the Menu button (next to  Home button), and then select WPS PIN entry.

  5. Next, you should see the WPS setup prompt with the PIN shown.

  6. Enter the same PIN on your home router that supports the WPS PIN entry feature. Below is an example taken from DLink router.

  7. Next, you should see the Connected to Wi-Fi network prompt on your phone.
